Scripture - 1 Samuel 17

Observation - David was anointed king at a young age but had to return home to tend to the sheep because it was not his time yet to be king. Through the mundane of his day to day chores, David’s faith grew, and he began to discover his God-given strengths. David’s daily faithfulness played into God’s bigger plan.

Application - Faith is sometimes hard to have. We want to believe that something better is coming or that God has a bigger plan. We don’t always understand why God does what he does. He doesn’t need to offer an explanation, but he invites us to step out and hang on to him knowing he’s with us through the highs and lows.

Prayer - Father, give me faith that grows deep down inside of me. Let it take root and be strong. When things come my way, let it not waiver. Take those things that I deal with in my mind and give me peace and comfort. In your name I pray, amen.
