Scripture - 1 Samuel 6

Observation - The Philistines sent the ark of the covenant back to the Israelites on a cart pulled by two cows that had not been used before to pull a cart. The cows ended up taking the cart to Israel -proof to the Philistines that the suffering that they had endured was from God. The Philistines had realized that they should not keep the ark from God’s people. The people of Beth shemesh were excited to have the ark come back to Israel. Some of the people from Beth Shemesh chose to look inside the ark, which was not something that was ok. The ark was sacred and not something to be taken lightly.

Application - The Philistines and the people of Beth Shemesh learned that God was meant to be honored and treated reverently. What is one way that you can respond to God with reverence today?

Prayer -  God, you are greater than I could ever be. May my life be lived with reverence towards you. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
