Day 3

Generosity is for Everyone.

We have to be marked by a spirit of GENEROSITY as followers of Christ. Why? We serve such a generous God

God just didn’t give us one GALAXY - when He created the UNIVERSE. It’s estimated to contain 200 billion to 2 trillion galaxies.

God just didn’t create one CREATURE to inhabit the planet - scientists have recently estimated that there are approximately 8.7 million species on Earth. They believe that 1-2 million of those species are animals.

God just didn’t create one HUMAN BEING to build a relationship with - but the earth is just shy of 8 Billion people each of them unique, created with fingerprints to call their own.

We serve a GENEROUS GOD.

We serve an EXTRAVAGANT GOD.

We serve a LOVING FATHER.

There are two things we need to learn about GENEROSITY that Jesus taught us. One, is that generosity is a matter of the heart.

Your willingness to be generous as a human being is not a matter of how much money you have or how little, the kind of car you drive or the lack of it, or even the size of house you live in.

Generosity always starts within the heart.

Matthew 6:21  “For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” ESV

Matthew 6:21 “For your heart will always pursue what you value as your treasure.” TPT

Matthew 6:21 “The place where your treasure is, is the place you will most want to be, and end up being.” MSG

The second thing is that generosity is not just about your money or cold hard cash. Generosity flows out of how you balance your life. How willing are you to give out of your TIME, TALENT and your TREASURE? When we give in those areas we are forced to sacrifice something within ourselves. You can’t focus on generosity when you are focusing consistently on yourself. So creating a culture of generosity within your own heart will bleed out into every other facet of your life. Your relationships. Your marriage. Your family and your children will mimic what they see in you? What kind of GIVER are you? What sort of GIVING MINDSET have you adopted in your daily life?

God is challenging us to be a generous church. That means we all come together like the early church body did in Act 2 and we find ways to take care of one another. Out of this incredible abundance it will flow out into the world we live in and we can take on meeting the needs of our great community as we sacrifice out time, talent and treasure to see God’s Kingdom grow. How can we grow this culture in at 29:11? By making a commitment to be a part of sharing in our time, talent and treasure extravagantly. No doubt God is already doing that in you! Start to dream about your involvement! God is already using your life to make a difference as it flows from your heart.
