THEME SCRIPTURE:
Parables of the Hidden Treasure and the Pearl
44 “The Kingdom of Heaven is like a treasure that a man discovered hidden in a field. In his excitement, he hid it again and sold everything he owned to get enough money to buy the field.
45 “Again, the Kingdom of Heaven is like a merchant on the lookout for choice pearls. 46 When he discovered a pearl of great value, he sold everything he owned and bought it!"
- Matthew 13:44-46
TODAY’S PASSAGE:
4 But—When God our Savior revealed his kindness and love, 5 he saved us, not because of the righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He washed away our sins, giving us a new birth and new life through the Holy Spirit. 6 He generously poured out the Spirit upon us through Jesus Christ our Savior. 7 Because of his grace he made us right in his sight and gave us confidence that we will inherit eternal life.
- Titus 3:4-7
REFLECTION:
Be Kind is a trendy phrase you can find on t-shirts, coffee mugs and stickers. Kindness is an easy thing to say, but so much harder to do. Jesus was the ultimate example of kindness. He saved us not because of the righteous things we have done. In Romans 2:4 the Word of God says, “His kindness leads us towards repentance”. Not His judgment, or his anger or his frustration. HIS KINDNESS. Kindness is contagious. Our Father is the ultimate example of being kind whether or not it’s deserved. How can you show that same kindness to others to show them the heart and character of our Father?
THOUGHTS TO PONDER:
What is your testimony of how the Lord’s kindness brought you to repentance? Is it difficult for you to show kindness to others? What is one act of kindness you can do for someone else today?
