Talk It Out- Motive Matters- Pastor Chris (People’s Church in Chicago)
These questions and thoughts are designed to help you create connection in your Community Group.
*Start Talking: Find a conversation starter for your group from the following questions…
- Are you a morning person or a night person?
- If you could commit a crime and get away with it, what would you choose and why?
“So I tell you this, and insist on it in the Lord, that you must no longer live as the Gentiles do, in the futility of their thinking. They are darkened in their understanding and separated from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them due to the hardening of their hearts. Having lost all sensitivity, they have given themselves over to sensuality so as to indulge in every kind of impurity, and they are full of greed.” Ephesians 4:17-19 (NIV)
Maybe you don’t have what you hunger for because God is trying to shift your appetite to what he wants you to be hungry for.
John 4:28-22- the encounter of the woman at the well and Jesus... she left behind what originally brought her to the well and took back something even more important to share with everyone- the message of the living water- Jesus.
There has to be a crossover where you want more of what He wants for you then what you want for you.
You can’t lead someone where you have never been.
- What are you looking at? What is your motive?
- Pastor Chris made a comment about the wind... you can’t see it, but you can see and feel the effects of it’s power. How can this relate to how we might view God at times?
*End in Prayer:
Take some time to pray together as a group- share requests/needs/praises. You can pray in smaller groups of 2 or 3, or all together. Take turns praying for one another and encourage one another to pray throughout the week for all things. Commit to praying for each other this week.
