Plan. Hope. Future.
“Be of good courage, And He shall strengthen your heart, All you who hope in the Lord.” Psalm 34:10 NKJV
Hope. It requires courage. Did you know that? It’s easier not to believe in anything. But hope requires faith and faith requires courage to believe, especially when you don’t see the outcome.
There will be lots of days in 2017 that you may not see the outcome. The outcome of the plan. The outcome of the rhythm. The outcome of what you have worked hard for. So, you will need to hope. And, that hope will build your strength. Strength to believe that all things are possible even when you don’t see.
You may not feel that initially. When you start a new year or make a big change your body and mind are charged with the energy that something is about to happen. But the days will go on and you may lose some of the faith you had in the plan. It’s on those days you will need to call on hope to keep what you believe in alive.
In Genesis 15 we find Abraham at sitting underneath a starry vision. God has just revealed to him that after years of waiting to have a child that he is about to see things come to fruition. He is promised a child, in fact, many of them. As countless as the stars in the sky.
“Look now toward heaven, and count the stars if you are able to number them.” And He said to him, “So shall your descendants be.” And he believed in the Lord, and He accounted it to him for righteousness. Genesis 15:5-6 NKJV
The plan was there but time would take its toll to see it unfold. It would be 15 more years before this man would be reminded by God again that it would really happen. Another 10 years before this man would hold little Isaac in his hands.
This is when hope can strengthen our hearts. During those 25+ years of waiting. During those 25+ days of frustration. During those 25+ hours of temptation. During those 25+ minutes of staring into a coffee cup and hoping to see something...even if its just stars.
So during the moments we can’t understand God’s plan we trust in the fact that His hand is still with us. Guiding us. Watching over us.
He will be with you every day, hour and second of 2017.
Allow that to give you the hope that you will need…
Action: Ask God to give you hope on the days in 2017 that you may lack the faith to see ahead. Ask God to help strengthen your unbelief when it rises. Read through your list or ideas that you jotted down to see accomplished in 2017 and pray for the hope to see them come to be. Hope is in us because He lives in us.
