"Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the LORD rises upon you.” Isaiah 60:1 NIV
Thoughts on Today’s Verse: Advent is a season. It has been observed in the greater Church for hundreds of years as a time of waiting and preparation for the celebration of the Nativity of Jesus at Christmas. The term is a version from the Latin word that means “coming.” In a world that feels so dark at times, Advent is one of my favorite seasons. I am so thankful for this annual reminder of hope and preparation for our Savior who has stepped out of eternity and into our world to save us. Truly, our LIGHT has come in the form of God’s holy son and is found in the hearts of humanity for all those who will believe. Praying that God can prepare us all to SHINE the same light of hope that we see our Jesus illuminate beautifully.
My Prayer: Lord, I ask that you would prepare my heart to fully grasp in a new way the power of your birth in these next three weeks amidst the chaos of the holiday season. Help me to shine the light of redemption and love to all those who I come into contact with. May they see I don’t just celebrate Christmas but the forever LOVE of my Savior.
