Greedy Gratitude 30 Day Devotional
Day 25 - Simplicity
"For our boast is this, the testimony of our conscience, that we behaved in the world with simplicity and godly sincerity, not by earthly wisdom but by the grace of God, and supremely so toward you." 2 Corinthians 1:12
Just the word alone speaks volumes. I’m so grateful that we have moments not filled with a huge to-do list. But, we have to create these moments. They don’t just happen. With the stress of the holidays and on our bank accounts, we can become overworked, overstressed, and overwhelmed.
There is beauty in the chaos. There is also beauty in the still. We don’t have to make everything so complicated. We don’t have to run ourselves down until there’s nothing for us to to give.
During the hustle and bustle of the holiday season. Let’s be still, let’s take away all the things that don’t really matter. I’m grateful for simplicity. I’m grateful that we serve a God who isn’t looking for us to wear ourselves out.
One synonym to the word simplicity is clean lines. That is so beautiful. It causes us to pause and realize that we don’t have to be so big and grand to impress people who don’t really matter. I’d rather be known as someone who loved hard, lived simple and didn’t get caught up in the world. Then someone who was unloveable, lived grandiosley outside their means, and tried to impress the unimpressionable
Action Steps: Stop, and take a moment. Just enjoy the quiet for a few moments. Maybe pray a little bit longer or create a setting that causes you to be still for just a little while.
