Greedy Gratitude 30 Day Devotional
Day 12 - BLESSING
"Mary was greatly troubled at [the angel's] words and wondered what kind of greeting this might be. But the angel said to her, 'Do not be afraid, Mary; you have found favor with God. You will conceive and give birth to a son, and you are to call him Jesus. He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give him the throne of his father David, and he will reign over Jacob’s descendants forever; his kingdom will never end.'"
A blessing can be defined as approval that allows or helps you to do something, approval from God, or God's favor and protection.
Oh, how grateful I am for the blessing and protection God placed over Mary, who became Jesus' mother. God favored Mary. But more than that, God favored all of humanity. God's favor has never been more apparent to me than in the story of Jesus Christ. God's ULTIMATE BLESSING for us is our approval into heaven through his son's life, bloodshed, and resurrection. We have access to a blessing that overrides any earthly curse. This is incredible.
The single blessing of Jesus lends into the thousands of blessings we encounter daily. Because of God's approval, we have full access to redemption. Because of the life Jesus lived, we have an example to follow. Because of God's protection, we experience safety and comfort.
Have you ever realized that we have to choose to live in light of God's blessing? We choose whether or not we accept the blessing of Christ's sacrifice. We also choose whether or not we live in the current land earthly blessings available to us. Our actions dictate if we reside in a place of blessing.
"Listen to [wisdom's] instruction and be wise; do not disregard it. Blessed are those who listen to me, watching daily at my doors, waiting at my doorway. For those who find me find life and receive favor from the Lord."
"Let love and faithfulness never leave you; bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart. Then you will win favor and a good name in the sight of God and man."
Pursuing love, faithfulness, and wisdom will lend to favor and blessing from the LORD.
ACTION STEP: Take a moment to be actively grateful. Close your eyes and praise God for his blessing and favor you are experiencing right now. Write out the earthly blessings you've encountered today. Praise him for the ultimate blessing of Jesus in your life. A grateful heart and attitude changes your life.
