This is what they reported to Moses: “We went to the land where you sent us. It really is a land flowing with milk and honey. Here’s some of its fruit. 28 But the people who live there are strong, and the cities have walls and are very large. We even saw the descendants of Anak there. 29 The Amalekites live in the Negev. The Hittites, Jebusites, and Amorites live in the mountain region. And the Canaanites live along the coast of the Mediterranean Sea and all along the Jordan River.”
30 Caleb told the people to be quiet and listen to Moses. Caleb said, “Let’s go now and take possession of the land. We should be more than able to conquer it.”
31 But the men who had gone with him said, “We can’t attack those people! They’re too strong for us!” 32 So they began to spread lies among the Israelites about the land they had explored. They said, “The land we explored is one that devours those who live there. All the people we saw there are very tall. 33 We saw Nephilim there. (The descendants of Anak are Nephilim.) We felt as small as grasshoppers, and that’s how we must have looked to them.” Numbers 13: 27-33 NIV
Moses sent 12 spies to check out the land “flowing with milk and honey” that God had destined the Israelites to possess in time. The spies went on their secret mission and came back with a report that the talk was true - IT WAS A LAND FILLED WITH ALL THE GOOD STUFF! And, it was a land filled with challenge and giants! Out of 12 spies, Caleb was the only ONE that spoke up declaring God’s truth…that we are MORE THAN CONQUERS when our heavenly Father is with us.
Did you know that turkeys have some distinct quantities that are very different from the eagle?
*The eagle is recognized as the “king of birds”; by reason of his great size, his remarkable power of flight, and his keenness of vision.
*Turkeys on the other hand are considered to be bird-brained. They are not as intelligent as the Eagle and in many cases will peck each other to death if they don't receive proper care.
*Eagles have great strength and can kill small mammals, large birds, etc., even though they never slay except to eat.
*Most turkeys don’t fly…they GLIDE low to the ground.
*Eagles SOAR…upwards at times to hundreds of feet from the ground.
*Turkeys can be downright mean at times and can drown in a rain storm. They hear the thunderstorm and usually look up with their mouths open, and after swallowing too much water, they drown.
*The Eagle is also known to be one of the most itelligent birds on the planet which is why it was chosen as our National Emblem.
Caleb was surrounded by turkeys but CHOSE to be an EAGLE. God gives us that chance everyday. Pray that God can help you choose to be the ONE amidst the crowd that stands on the faith and hope that God has placed in your life to live like a CONQUERER no matter the circumstance ... FLY like an eagle.
